Governors

Meet the Governors!

Below you will find out more information about each of our school governors on the Local Governing Committee (LGC).

We operate an LGC without committees structure so the full LGC usually meets twice a short term, with the exception of the Pay and Remuneration Sub-Committee which meets twice a year and the Admissions Sub-Committee, consisting of a minimum of three governors, which is convened as required.

The Chair of the Local Governing Committee is Lyndsay Markham.

The school is part of the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust (BWMAT). Details of the Governance of the BWMAT can be found by following this link to the BWMAT website.

Profile
Lyndsay Markham 7/7 2/2

It’s a privilege to be involved in the life of our wonderful school, as I believe that an outstanding education within a nurturing school is one of the most important foundations our children can have. I was fortunate to attend good state schools myself, before completing a history degree at Cambridge and later gaining an MA at Bristol.

I work in corporate communications as a freelance consultant and editor, as well as copy-editing books for an academic publisher. I’m also an assessor for the Institute of Internal Communication’s professional diploma, and I sat on the executive boards of the Institute and its European counterpart for 12 years.

Angela Hoare 5/7 2/2 I am a Methodist minister covering the Weston-super-Mare area, and I am happy to support the Christian foundation of this school.  I enjoy coming into school, meeting the children and leading worship.  I was previously a qualified teacher in a secondary school for nine years and have three children and four grandchildren.  I am the Pupil Premium and SEND governor and do all I can to support this vital area of work within the school.

Alexandra Webb

4/7 1/2 I have been a parent at St Georges for two years with a son in Year Five and a daughter in nursery. Having been a primary teacher for the best part of sixteen years, I am hugely passionate about children’s learning. I genuinely believe it is the best and most varied job there is; life is never boring in a primary school! My own interests include dance and reading as well as long walks in the countryside! I can offer the Governing Body experience in primary maths, support of the faith of the school and a passion for learning.
Jason Mitchell 6/7 2/2 I have had continuous involvement with the school since 2011 by way of my children attending, and am well known to many of the teachers and staff. I have always endeavoured to attend and support all activities and events as often as possible and take an active interest in the school, its management and its place within the community. I look to increase this level of involvement to further support the school and further enhance its ability to offer excellent and happy learning environments to others such as it has afforded my own children.
Dominic Wells 4/5 2/2 N/A
Charles Thomas 5/5 2/2 Charles works as a freelance consultant, specialising in large-scale programme management and strategic business transformation. Widely regarded as an expert in capacity management, having worked with many of the world’s best known organisations to develop capabilities that improve performance by configuring resources and operations in different ways. Having lived and worked across 52 countries (and counting..) Charles remains based with his family in rural Oxfordshire, where he provides foster care for vulnerable children and indulges an amateur triathlon hobby.
