Mental health and wellbeing
At St Georges, we know that supporting children to have good mental health is paramount to supporting them to be the very best version of themselves. If you are concerned about your child's mental health or wellbeing, the first port of call would usually involve speaking with your child’s class teacher. Additionally, Tessa Biggart is our Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead – please phone the office if you would like to arrange a telephone call with her. Within our school both Tessa Biggart and Emma Allen are qualified mental health first aiders, working to support children in all year groups.
If you feel that your child requires additional help with their mental health, the resources below may be able to help:

Some people find it easier to talk to someone they don’t know. Signpost your child to Childline. They can call them on 0800 1111, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a free phone number.

If talking is too challenging right now, text the word ‘connect’ to 85258. This is a free service text support service that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If your child’s current needs are more complex, a doctor’s appointment may be the most appropriate route to secure the support they need.

It can be challenging and upsetting supporting someone who is struggling with their mental health, so don’t forget to take care of yourself too!
